64bit / discard part files / ...

Post by isarrider » 11 May 2015, 12:31

Hallo,

I am curious about a few things:

Windows 64bit compile?
basically to prevent memory limitation

discard partitial files:
just redl them if your connection is fast enough,
and do not dump them in the tmp folder,
wont make the hdd go crazy after a restart...

Extract to dest folder without subfolders?
obvious more easy... for me :)

Single dialog after clicking on a dl:
So I dont need to click postprocess to enter a pw...

Thats it in the meantime...
Ah and great piece of coding!

NZBGet doesn't need much memory. About 300 MB is enough on Windows. That's however not true for OS X where option DirectWrite can't be used and therefore a large article cache is needed. OS X version is 64 bit.
At the moment 64 bit releases are not planned for Windows (no advantages over 32 bit).

Options ContinuePartial=no, DirectWrite=yes.

That's asking for troubles. Use pp-scripts to organize downloaded files, for example VideoSort for videos.

That's in TODO but can't give any estimation.

Hi hugbug,

sry for not stating my 64bit statement precise enough...
As I want to make sure a big dl (with big par data fits in RAM)
while having direct write off (my underst is fragmentation goes up?)
the size of par and cache are limited, right?

Continuing partial is set to no,
but it still dumps the parts to my temporary folder?

And by no subfolder I meant when my download folder is ../down
then the downloaded file goes into down, not into .../down/nameInNzbget/filename...

ah and when I remember correctly, the utorrent webversion is quite amazing,
but I guess it is closed source?

anyway!
Thx!

There is no need for that.

DirectWrite=yes + ArticleCache=50-200MB - the best of two worlds - little memory usage, no fragmentation.

Shouldn't happen if article cache is active and big enough for current rar-file. But that's only the case if DirectWrite=no. With active direct write the files are never created. We are talking about the actual version (14 or 15) and not about some ancient v10 or similar, right?

I know what you mean but the answer is the same - sub-directories are needed for proper processing, otherwise files mix up and the things may get messy.

Have no idea what you are talking about.

ok lets rest the first 2...
tried cache and DW > nice...

the partial dump is also gone,
when DW is on... thx...

I can live with the subfolders...
and for the utorrent,
i just wanted to suggest to take a look,
as its one of the best ones...

Anyway, big thx!
