Detect filepath > 255 characters (for Windows)

Post by chumpy » 02 Nov 2015, 08:12

I had an NZB that tried to extract and failed. I wasn't able to simply delete the folder from incomplete. After a bit of searching it turns out it was because there was some folder nesting going on and the total extraction path to one or more of the files was greater that 255 characters, which Windows doesn't like. I was able to delete the directory with rmdir but wondered if a feature could be introduced to check for this before extraction?

Worst case scenario the extraction is stopped and there's no "undeleteable" file. Best case, perhaps it may be possible to extract using the first x characters of the path so that the total is <= 254 characters
