Accept, Reject and new Timed (RSS/Download)?

Post by get39678 » 06 Oct 2016, 17:13

It would be great if a new RSS Filter option (and corresponding Download) could be added that would add a match but only process it after a certain number of hours?

After the certain number of hours has expired the download would be processed but if in the meantime a match with the same dupekey has been processed this newly timed entry would have been removed due to it being a duplicate.

I have several RSS filter rules that reject depending on the age but this is a very "hard" criteria and is difficult to manually override so something between an Accept and Reject rule for these would be great.

Thanks

Can't you achieve a similar effect with dupescores? The first item become lower score but will be downloaded nonetheless. Later an item with higher score will be downloaded as well (because it is better). A disadvantage is that both items are downloaded and if downloaded volumes are of concern that's not a perfect solution.

I do use dupekeys, scores and dupestatus but it is difficult to get a good solution for something like the following scenario and keep bandwidth from being wasted.

linux cd
linux dvd

If linux dvd appears I reject for several hours. If linux cd appears it gets processed and when the several hours expires linux dvd is ignored due to dupekey checking. If linux cd is not available after several hours linux dvd is processed instead.

As the rejection is "hidden" due to the time there is no visual indication that this release exists and therefore there is no opportunity to override the normal rules and force the processing of linux dvd.

If it was possible to instead of rejecting outright if you could add to the download list but do nothing with it for a configurable number of hours this would give users the knowledge of the release and if their allowances would allow it they could force the download instead of waiting for the cd release.

IDEA: could an option be added to toggle the display of rejected items on the Feed screen (and option to set the default of this option in Settings) - it would be a manual solution but would fit in nicely and a vast amount of less work :D
