right, i have this things disabled also. is it better for performance to enable the settings you advised to disable in post 1?

Yes, they must be enabled for best performance. The disabling was a measure to narrow down the issue. If I remember correctly your crashes were occurring during unpack and that bug is fixed in 14.1 (and 15.0-testing as well).

I run with only 128MB of RAM on a lowly NAS.. I had problems as well with ArticleCache.
I have only limited tests so far with the compiled 14.1 I have, but so far, with ArticleCache=50 , and CrcCheck=yes I haven't crashed- yet.
If and when it does, I have already compiled the debug version so we'll see..
I believe I can still induce a crash rather quickly if I set ArticleCache to 100.

Thanks Jim I will give that a go with it lower on mine, I was using 60 but 50 may work!

thats right, i had the crash at unpacking. so i enabled quickpar, article cache (100 mb) and directwrite. i had no craches since upgrade to 14.1 thnx
