latest nzbget 15 + debug crashes without core dumping

Post by sflargo » 21 Jun 2015, 18:26

Hi there,

The latest nzbget 15 version crashes a lot, especially if I try to access the webui.
I also started clean with a new directory, after reloading it crashes in the same way without dumping the core file, although activated in the settings.
I have to restart the nzbget application again.

This happens to both versions the normal one and the debug version, I used the latest manual run scripts for linux.

I have a Synology Nas DS211j with the latest DSM 5.2-5565 and MARVELL Kirkwood 88F6281 CPU.

Code: Select all

disk323> cat /proc/cpuinfo
Processor : Feroceon 88FR131 rev 1 (v5l)
BogoMIPS : 1192.75
Features : swp half thumb fastmult edsp
CPU implementer : 0x56
CPU architecture: 5TE
CPU variant : 0x2
CPU part : 0x131
CPU revision : 1

Hardware : Feroceon-KW
Revision : 0000
Serial : 0000000000000000
disk323>

Code: Select all

disk323> uname -a
Linux disk323 2.6.32.12 #5565 Mon May 11 02:12:06 CST 2015 armv5tel GNU/Linux synology_88f6281_211j
disk323>
Please advise.
Thx

What version you were using before: from synocommunity or self-compiled?
What I'd like to know if there is an incompatibility between the binary from Linux installer and your system or there is a general new bug which crashes it.

We need the core file. There is a good chance the core files were created but you can't find it because the system is configured to store them in a place you don't look into.
This article may help.

Make a test:
  • start NZBGet in console mode with "nzbget -s -o outputmode=log"
  • from another terminal window terminate it with "kill -6 <pid-of-nzbget>";
  • does nzbget printed message "core dumped"?

Yes, the one from the synocommunity.
They updated it to 15.0-16.
I will run some basic tests to compare if the same errors occur.
Let me know how I can compare the synocommunity version against your manual version.

I searched all drives and shares for *core* and I am positive it did not get created.
I remember that the grey screen on the web page would say "core dumped" in previous versions.
Now it just says "Communication error, retrying" and I see that the process got killed.

Will do more tests as suggested and report back.
From what I see right now with "nzbget -s -o outputmode=log" it seems quite stable.
Typically I start it in daemon mode, maybe this is connected with that mode.

Code: Select all

/volume1/share1/nzbget1286/nzbget/nzbget -D -c /volume1/share1/nzbget1286/nzbget/nzbget.conf
thx
