Files show up as "copy"

Post by gijosh28 » 27 Dec 2015, 04:06

Hi,

I am sure this answer is on this forum somewhere, but when I search I get a lot of results for the word "copy." I've had a lot of trouble with my programs that interact with nzbget, so I have switched them out a couple of times, and in doing this sometimes files didn't complete properly or failed that should have passed etc. Now that my other programs are running right, a lot of the nzbs that get sent to nzbget immediately go to history and for status say, "copy." I have deleted the history. How do I purge my database to give everything another chance to download and process?

Thanks,
Josh

When deleting items from history you can choose wether to delete items completely or hide. You must have chosen to hide. Click button "hidden" to see such items, which you can delete completely then.

Alternatively delete directory set in option QueueDir.

When I delete stuff normally I do select to just hide them, but I clicked on hidden, and deleted everything there before this most recent install of sickrage and couchpotato, and a lot of my nzbs sent from sickrage still go directly to status copy. I'll have to try deleting the contents of QueueDir.

"Copy" means there is already the same nzb in history or in queue. You can check this manually by inspecting queue and history.
Your CP and SR probably send the same nzbs mutliple times and nzbget rejects them.

You can also disable duplicate check in nzbget via option DupeCheck if you don't want validation on nzbget side.

Is there a way to get CP to recognize files with the status of "copy" as failed, and mark them as such on its side of things?

Do you use any script to notify CP when a download completes or CP detects finished downloads automatically?
In first case the script need to be extended to handle COPY status. In second case CP needs to be extended similarly.

Sorry to re-open this old topic, but it seemed relevant to a question I have.

I am using SickRage with NNzbget. I get the "copy" issue when I am trying to backfill some old shows. I thought perhaps that SickRage was just repeatedly sending the same nzb...but what I discovered is that it is getting the "bad" signal from NzbGet and then sending a new Nzb with the SAME name (because it finds it on DogNzb). I confirmed this by checking both logs and it appears that everything is working fine except NzbGet thinks it is a duplicate because the name is the same (though the post on Usenet clearly isn't).

A perfect example just happened, so I wanted to ask for help...perhaps there is a setting or something. Of course I do have duplicate check enabled, but I guess I thought it would know that it was a different usenet post even though the file is the same. I just had it happen, so I clicked on "Download Again". It tried and failed...that prompted SR to send another one, same name, I clicked "Download Again" and it tried and failed...that prompted a third, which I clicked "Download Again" and it worked fine. I then went to DogZnb and checked and low and behold there are 3 version on there, all different...and the last one that it grabbed worked fine.

Is there something I can do to get around this or do I just need to disable Duplicate Check?

Thanks...and also thanks for an awesome piece of software....great stuff.

"Copy" refers to nzb-file content. That status means this exact nzb-file already exists in nzbget history or queue (the name of file doesn't matter, the content is compared). Adding an exact copy of the same nzb-file doesn't make much sense and therefore file goes straight to history.

Maybe you have multiple indexers and Sickrage sends same files to nzbget? But the first one should have a different status (failure probably, otherwise why would Sickrage look further).

Yea, I thought the same thing...but I just confirmed that it worked just like I said. Here's a copy of the log from SickRage. It is he 3rd file...the one that worked and downloaded (and post processed) fine.

Note the log starting at: 2017-12-11 17:26:18

It finds the first one, recognizes that it was failed. Finds the seconds recognizes it failed and then finds the third one, determines the quality and sends it to NzbGet. Notice the filename is exactly the same..but its not the same content I am sure because in all three of these cases NzbGet flagged them as Copy...I clicked download again and the first two failed (as you can see below) but the third one, when I clicked "Download Again" worked and all was well...even though NzbGet flagged it as a Copy.

Thanks for the reply...please let me know your thoughts.

Look in nzbget log-file for a message like "Skipping duplicate <filename>, found in history bla-bla". It tells you which file it sees as original to that duplicate.
