Nzbget hanging at the end of a new download

Post by new2nzbget » 11 May 2016, 13:55

Just made the switch from SAB to nzbget on a raspberry pi, and I'm getting a download that says "0.00MB Left" but is still in green download status. I can't seem to delete it or pause/resume it or do anything with it. How can I find out what's going on?

It says "Cancelling hanging download" followed by the file name, then "-MAoS/767e0f22fc4976fd18244354445c470a.11 [4/69] @ Astraweb (ssl.astraweb.com)"

and there are dozens (maybe hundreds?) of similar messages like that. 1000 messages total.

Have you changed ConnectionTimeout? Not that you should change it but if you did this before then the new setting may be too small. Default is like 60 seconds.

Was nzbget installed using official installer package from nzbget download page?

Thanks for your reply, but I've had nothing but trouble with nzbget the past few days. It's been crashing, failing, and the "hanging downloads" persists. SAB wasn't perfect, but at least it worked, so I'm prolly just going to switch back. :(

Still it was interesting to know wether nzbget was installed using official installer package from nzbget download page or not?

Hi

I also have a raspberry pi 3B and I get loads of errors saying something like:
"Cancelling hanging download ARandomNameOfFileIWantToDownload/550c2ae980be46d8a1ccac6f8b022f4b.part09.rar [2/137] @ "
It also completely fills my logs.

I pinned down the problem to the fact that my MainDir PATH now points to an external USB stick instead of the default internal memory of the Pi where the OS/NZBGet is installed on.
The permissions of the external USB stick and such are all belonging to the same user that is running NZBGet. So they should be fine I assume since I am still able to download a part of the file to the external USB stick.
It is possible to download the file completely at reduced speed compared to using the internal memory as MainDir. The latter option doesn't return any of these error messages (normal behaviour) and is able to download at greater speeds (that might be due to the higher writting speeds of the internal SD card compared to the USB stick).

Something is going wrong with the connection, but I can't pinpoint it to what and how to solve it exactly.
Any ideas on how to further troubleshoot might be helpful.

Hanging downloads is usually a network issue. If the problem is in hanging disk io operations you should also have messages "Terminating hanging download" which is a last resort to abort hanging thread. Downloads hanging during network operations usually can be aborted without "termination".

Using an usb memory stick is generally a bad idea as most of them have very bad controllers and don't work well as normal drives which have to process many simultaneous operations. It's better to use a hard drive or ssd attached to usb.

I'm aware that USB stick is not optimal, but the Pi is actually a present for my sister and she plans to get an hdd in the future.

But my question is, how can it be network related if it just works fine when using internal memory?
So you say that the problem might dissapear by just using an HDD or SSD instead of the USB stick?
