Manual Install of NZBGet... need a bit of help

Post by charsiufan » 18 Jul 2017, 03:37

Hi All

I'm trying a manual install using these instructions https://nzbget.net/installation-on-linux to get NZBGet working on my Synology.

I've connected to the NAS using telnet and ran the wget command which appeared to work and installed the pacakge
using 'sh nzbget-latest-bin-linux.run'

This has created a folder under root/nzbget (is this the correct location?)

When I try to test nzbget using '<nzbget-directory>/nzbget -s' I get this error '-ash: nzbget: command not found'

Any advice pls?

It's for you to choose where to install it.

You should replace <nzbget-directory> with the path nzbget was installed into.

Thanks, but I was following the 'automatic' installation instructions. Didn't see a way to specify a directory.

Yes, I was in the directory root/nzbget when I ran that command. Sorry, I just copy / pasted that text above from the instructions page when writing this post. I ran the command in the nzbget folder but still get that error message.

Sorry its the first time I've tried a manual install and not finding many resources online to help troubleshoot when it goes wrong, so any suggestions very welcome!

As the instructions say the installer creates subdirectory "nzbget" in current directory. Either change the current directory before executing installer or use parameter --destdir. It seems you don't know where you want to install it anyway, so leave it as is in /root/nzbget.

When you launch nzbget it doesn't matter what is your current directory, you need to type the full path to nzbget executable, do not type literally "<nzbget-directory>".

Great, thanks!

I've moved it to \volume1\@appstore\nzbget and it appears to be running now.

thanks again for your help.

Well I´m in the same boat ;-)

I have v16.4-22 running on my Syno DS 213 and wanted to upgrade to the latest version.

I "managed" to download the v19.1 on my NAS to the following path /volume1/@appstore/nzbget/nzbget.

Now I´m struggling with the "test":
when I enter volume1/@appstore/nzbget/nzbget -s I receive a "Permission denied" error message (and the same occurs if I add outputmode=log).

Hence I would appreciate if somebody might help me.
Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Update:
Could start the test (i forgot another nzbget in the path above) but then only error messages occured.

Now I´m lost ;-)

Code: Select all

volume1/@appstore/nzbget/nzbget -s
You do mean "/volume1" not just "volume1", right?

What's the permissions of nzbget executable. Post the output of:

Code: Select all

cd /volume1/@appstore/nzbget
ls -l

Thanks for the swift response.

Output is as follows:
2017-07-18 10_54_22 - PuTTY.png
2017-07-18 10_54_22 - PuTTY.png (10.23 KiB) Viewed 8245 times
Tried the test again after I stopped NzbGet on my NAS and with the /volume1...

Now I receive warning messages that username or password in invalid ?!?

From the Installation manual:
Default login credentials are username: nzbget, password: tegbzn6789.

If we use this command line install approach rather than a package, are we still able to get an icon in package center on the NAS? Or will interactions be command line based moving forward?

Thanks
