Ok I have a new download that completed but the unpack failed. I ran the command from Terminal, and have the output. Here it is:

Try again multiple times and see the error occurs on the same file.
Also try copying files into a new directory, at best onto another drive or partition. Then try unpacking from the copy.

I just tried again, and this time it failed on .r09 (originally it failed on .r11). On a third attempt, it failed on .r13.
Next, I copied it to a different directory on a separate partition (actually a completely different hard drive), and it failed on .r07. On a second attempt (on the different partition) and it failed on .r01.

Always the same messages ("Cannot close the file", then "Bad file descriptor")?
Please check the files using par2formac. That's to ensure they are really not damaged as NZBGet thinks.

Sorry, yes, always the same error.
I just looked for par2formac and the site says it is discontinued. However I have tried, successfully, to use MacPAR Deluxe and the files unpack correctly using that app. That's actually what I was doing before I contacted you, but of course it's not an automated process.
Also ... I don't know if I already mentioned this, but in NZBGet, when this happens, I'll typically click the "Actions" button, and then "Download remaining files." The result of this is that it downloads one additional PAR file, and repeats the process. After doing this several times, sometimes I can get it to unpack successfully through NZBGet, but only after several attempts (and multiple additional PAR files are downloaded).

I'm trying something else ... my InterDir was set to a network drive (the same drive as the final destination) ... just to rule that out, I'm going to change the InterDir to the local Mac drive, and see if that helps things...

It was important that you use par2formac, not MacPar. The goal was to test files with par2-utility, not to unpack using other software (instead of unrar). Now I don't know if the files were OK or MacPar has repaired them.

Ah I see. Any idea where I can get that? Whenever I search for it, it says it is discontinued and suggests downloading MacPAR.

Just a quick update ... ever since changing my InterDir to a folder on the local Mac hard drive, I have been unable to get this error to happen again. And I've downloaded several NZBs today.
Previously, my InterDir and DestDir were both on separate NAS drives. I moved the InterDir to the internal drive, and it seems to have fixed the issue. Perhaps there was a problem with traffic on the network that was interfering with packets in the Par files? I don't know ...
If it happens again, I'll let you know. Or if you would like me to temporarily switch back to the NAS for further testing, I'm happy to do that as well, since I'm confident that would cause it to fail again.
I downloaded Par2formac, so I can use that in the future if need be.
