Downloader Not Responding

Post by Departed » 12 Mar 2018, 03:44

Hello,

I recently upgraded my internet connection from 150 Mbps to 500 Mbps. Immediately after the upgrade, NZBGet started acting a bit weird.

When I start a download, it starts very fast for about 5-10 seconds, and then the speed drops to a much slower speed. If I check my internet download stats, it looks like it alternates from full speed to a slow (or almost no) speed every 10 seconds or so. And occasionally if I click on the NZBGet icon in the menubar, it shows "Downloader Not Responding."

Also, if I try to reload the web UI during this time, it just shows "Loading, please wait." This will continue for maybe 20-30 seconds or so, and then it will begin again.

It almost seems like NZBGet is being overloaded by the additional speed. Although I have tried throttling the speed to about 80-90% of full speed, and it still happens pretty much the same.

Any ideas on what I can change in the settings to stop this from happening? I would really like to utilize the full additional speed I have for my internet connection, if possible. Thanks!

Is option DirectWrite active? If so, try deactivating it.
Is InterDir on local drive (not network)?

Hi hugbug, thanks for your response.

DirectWrite is not active. I'm on a Mac HFS drive, and I read that it is not compatible with my system.

Also, yes, InterDir is on a local drive.

Are there any other options?

How big is ArticleCache in nzbget? For best performance it must be larger than one rar-file. Rar-files are usually 200MB or less but sometimes can be up to 1GB. Does the issue happen even with small rar-files (less than article cache)?

Check in Activity Monitor CPU usage of nzbget and disk activity. It's to find out if CPU or disk is bottleneck.

You could also try the latest testing version which has speed optimization.

ArticleCache is 1900. (The server has 16GB of RAM).

I haven't tested with small rar files, so I'm not sure.

I will try to see if I can tell where the bottleneck is coming from. I'll also upgrade to the latest testing version. Thanks!

FYI I just upgraded to the testing version, and the problem still exists there...
