news server being blocked on only one computer

Post by sofubi » 25 Nov 2018, 21:37

Hey there, I have an issue where my news server is consistently blocked on only one computer.

The computer is running Ubuntu 18.04.1 and the other computer I have tested and confirmed working is running Kubuntu 18.04.
Editing here - I'm running the latest 21 beta release on both machines, not at the same time.

I have checked both the warning and the detail logs and the logs say:
Warning
"Blocking *news server* for 10 seconds"
Detail
" . . . connection refused by remote host . . . "

On the test computer I attempted two downloads both of which completed successfully at ~15MB/s. On the main computer which is having issues my download speeds are consistently ~500KB/s. I've attempted switching providers and that doesn't seem to help.

I have checked iptables and disabled UFW just to test which doesn't help. I've restored "factory" settings and that hasn't helped.

I'd love any advice on how to move forward as this is for a main media server and it's pretty dead in the water! Thanks!

connection refused by remote host
Maybe a network issue. Do both computers work on the same network?

You can try disabling blocking via option "ArticleInterval=0" but this will not fix the network issue obviously.

Both computers are on the same network so that's one of the biggest questions.

I rolled back the computer with the issue to the stable channel v20 and currently it seems to be working just fine. Unsure of what the issue is because I didn't make any changes other than that.
