Incorrect special characters after unpacking

Post by FCrane » 19 Oct 2013, 08:09

Hi!

I'm testing NZBGet and I think it's great! One small but annoying bug I've discovered is this: when I edit the name of a download and use German special characters like in "Ein Mann für gewisse Stunden", NZBGet shows it correctly. But after unraring the directory it creates is "Ein Mann für gewisse Stunden". So "ü" becomes "ü". This happens to all these "Umlaute". It's just a minor bug, but still annoying and it would be nice if it could be fixed.

Thanks!

That must be a system specific problem.
What device, OS, etc.?

Sorry, forgot to mention: "Windows 8 x64 Pro English" on a regular PC.

Confirming the problem on Windows. I'll see what I can do.

Is that related that unrar (and the rar 4 format itself) up to version 4 is not unicode compatible?

Only the new unrar 5 (and rar 5 format) adds unicode compatiblity. (With it own problems on systems that don't have full locale support).

It's not unrar related. The directory is created by NZBGet. When nzb-name is manually changed in webui the new name is transferred from webui to nzbget in UTF8 encoding. This name is then used to create directory but windows doesn't handle UTF8 in filenames.

Thanks! Where can I download r892?

I just found out, that if the nzb file contains special characters, NZBGet fails to process them! Here's the log (read bottom to top):

******************
error Thu Oct 24 2013 15:56:25 Could not add collection Erste Hilfe für Obst Krankheiten und Schädlinge wirksam bekämpfen.nzb to queue
error Thu Oct 24 2013 15:56:25 Error parsing nzb-file: The system cannot find the path specified.
info Thu Oct 24 2013 15:56:25 Collection Erste Hilfe für Obst Krankheiten und Schädlinge wirksam bekämpfen.nzb found
******************

When I remove the special characters "ä" from the file name, it works fine.

Regards!

Also, it has problems with cleaning up after extracting:

********************
error Thu Oct 24 2013 16:04:34 Could not delete file T:\NZBget\intermediate\Erste Hilfe\Erste Hilfe fr Obst Krankheiten und Sch„dlinge wirksam bek„mpfen.part1.rar
info Thu Oct 24 2013 16:04:34 Deleting file Erste Hilfe fr Obst Krankheiten und Sch„dlinge wirksam bek„mpfen.part1.rar
********************

Basically, all file operations containing special characters seem to fail.

That's a different problem. I'll look into it.

This is fixed in r892.
