Windows OK - Linux KO .... ? (SOLVED)

Post by telexxitfr » 11 May 2019, 16:04

Hello...
I've tested the same nzb on two different computer with the same version of NzbGet (21.0) but one under win10 and the other on Linux (debian)

- windows : no error on all files downloaded and no need to par2 repair
- linux : many files errors and so par2 repair needed ....
of course same usenet server, same nzb, same port, same account on both nzbget ....

So, i'd think, my par2 on linux is bad...
so i've verified Linux files with quickpar from windows...and errors too....

What difference ? thanks

Have you tested the same nzb on Windows again? Maybe it was removed from servers between your windows and Linux tests.

Your par2 tools don't matter, nzbget had built-in par2.

If you can post the logs of both downloads (preferably via pastebin.com) we could try to find the cause.

The log from Linux shows that there were no download errors.

Par-verification in nzbget has two modes: quick mode and full mode. During quick verification the checksums calculated during downloading are compared with checksums in par2-files. This check has reported "no errors". Then the full verification was performed (which reads files from disks and recalculates checksums) and it did found errors.

That means the files were downloaded indeed without errors but they were written into disk with errors. Of course that can mean a software bug in nzbget but that's unlikely, especially if you are using nzbget installer from nzbget download page, which is used by many users.

More likely there is a hardware issue with your Linux machine. This issue causes files to be written damaged. The disk maybe failing or overheating issue or RAM is bad etc. What kind of machine is this - a proper PC or some Pi-like board (which often have issues with overheating or bad power supply)?

thanks for your time....

It's a homemade PC :
Intel Core quad2 9440, 6 Go RAM, SSD 120Go ( for openmediavault (debian linux system and apps ) ), 3 x HD 2To 7200RPM

So using as NAS and Downloader with NzgGet

For the Hard DIsk failure, they are in use since one month, when i buy them.....
But i doubt about this possibility, because, i've changed Intermediate, completed, directory to be stored on SSD, then i've changed to one of 2To HD, and same errors.....

May be, there is another process or program inside Linux who can interfer with flush to disk when saving to file ...?
I'm going to test Nzbget to another linux distribution and then i'll see ....
What do you think ?

- MEMTEST in progress.....
- Yes, one memory got errors ....search which one....
