System and Config:
Dual Xeon L5640
16GB RAM
UnRAID
NZBGet running in Docker
Files downloaded to cache drive (SSD) before being moved to array when completed.
Problem:
Sometimes a file will get stuck trying to unpack, and the log shows
Code: Select all
Restarting hanging child process for unpack for FILENAME
Other unpacks work without a problem but every now and then one seems to get stuck. I will manually delete it when I see it, but when checking logs it retries for an unlimited amount of time it seems.
So two questions: What might be causing this? And is there a way to fail the unpack after X amount of retries/minutes.

For unknown reason this docker image has this issue. It was discussed here -
https://github.com/nzbget/nzbget/issues/558 and there is no fix.
All you can do is to switch to another docker image or install nzbget on the system directly.

Interesting. Okay, I'll give a different docker image a try and report back in a couple days. Thanks for the help!

Did you find that using another NZBGet docker image helped alleviate the hanging unpacks?

So came across this trying to find a more permanent solution to this issue, So far my only solution has been to restart the docker container when I see a file is hanging up like that. Every time I've restarted, it's pushed through the message and successfully unpacks the file. I set up a script on my unraid to restart the docker container every few hours. It's not a perfect solution, I still run into the problem, But at least this way it minimizes the need to constantly check on it to see if it's running smoothly. Hopefully somebody will come up with a more permanent solution in the future.
